Botswana Safari; Luxury Holiday Guide to Safari in Botswana

It is very very important to chose the right safari area for your tastes and interests, and also the right safari area for the time of year. The level of the flood is of key significance (please see our map – it is at its least in December and most in July) as the level of the flood can make water camps dry and dry camps water based!

Water Activity Safari Camps and Lodges

In the Delta - e.g. Jao, Xigera. At these camps you experience the quiet lagoons and fast flowing channels of the Delta for your safari. Much of the time will be spent reclining in a Mokoro. The deep waterways of the delta do not support a huge number of mammals, though elephant, buffalo and other animals do occur, along with fantastic birdlife.

Land Activity Camps

The Savuti and Linyanti area e.g. Kings Pool and Savuti Camp, and the Moremi Wildlife Reserve – Mombo and Chiefs. These are the safari areas to view the big game, plains game and predators. Most game activities are taken in open 4x4 vehicles although walking is also possible as are night drives.

Combination Water / Land Activity Camps

Other areas of the Delta e.g. Duba, Chitabe, Nxabega. These safari camps offer all the safari activities of a water camp and a land camp (depending on the level of the flood) and if chosen well can provide the best of all worlds.
