Savute Under Canvas – Our View

As much as we would love to hate this hotel due to its size, we actually absolutely love it. Yes it is not as personal as somewhere like The River Club or Tongabezi but the location is certainly the best of any hotel in the area and the fact that you genuinely do have to flight the zebra away from getting prime position at the swimming pool, is absolutely great!

Chobe Under Canvas – Our View

This camp is run by CCAfrica whose focus on quality food and drink as well as a high standard of guiding has meant that they are regarded as a company providing some of the best safari product in Africa. Chobe Under Canvas certainly lives up to the reputation.

Muchenje – Our View

And old favorite of ours…and such a great value lodge! Muchenje has the best views of any Chobe Lodge and we love the fact that it is a privately owned lodge that is located away from the crowds that Chobe National Park has become unfortunately so famous for! The lodge has got a great unpretentious safari atmosphere and costs nothing compared with the other good lodges elsewhere in the Chobe.

Savute Safari Lodge - Our View

Set right at the end of the Savute channel, not far from the infamous Savute marsh, this area of Botswana is one of the driest and most arid. This does, however, mean that the permanent watering hole out in front of the lodge is a superb place to while away a few hours watching the elephant drink. The lodge itself is comfortable and fairly neatly laid out with the area down by the pool being the best feature by far. Not a bad lodge at all if, like its sister camps, a little sterile….definitely not a fan of the breakfast room!!
