A Botswana Safari; choosing the right safari
To get the most out of a Botswana Safari, the different areas of the country and for that matter, the diversity of Botswana Safaris, have to be fully appreciated. It is very very important to choose the right area for your tastes and interests, and also the right area for the time of year. Botswana Safari from July to October for example is peak season (especially for Botswana Safaris in the Delta, Linyanti, Savuti and Chobe regions) where as Botswana Safaris from December to April are a fantastic time of year to visit the Makgadikgadi Pans National Parks.
Below is a very brief introduction to the variety and diversity of Botswana Safaris, the regions and the camps themselves. The remainder of this internet site will go into depth about each park, region and each camp but the key for now is to give you a background from which to start looking into your Botswana safari from. The aim is for you to be able to break a Botswana safari up into sections so that you fully understand the range of camps and diversity of habitat that are available for your Botswana safari.
Botswana Safari,The Water Activity Camps and Lodges e.g. Jao and Xigera in the Delta
The level of the flood in the Okavango Delta is of key significance for a Botswana Safari (please see the page marked flood position for more information - it is at its least in December and most in July) as the level of the flood can make water camps dry and dry camps water based!
Botswana Safari, Combination Water / Land Activity Camps- Other areas of the Delta e.g. Duba, Chitabe, Nxabega
These camps offer all the activities of a water camp and a land camp (depending on the level of the flood) and if chosen well can provide the best of all worlds, taking in all the variety that a Botswana Safari in the Delta can provide.
Botswana Safari, The Land Activity Camps of Savuti, Linyanti and Moremi, e.g. Kings Pool, Savuti Camp and Mombo
These are the areas to view the big game, plains game and predators. Most game activities are taken in open 4x4 vehicles although walking is also possible as are night drives
Botswana Safari, The Makgadikgadi Pans Camps, e.g. Jacks and San Camp
Great areas to get to for people who want to see the full diversity that a Botswana Safari can offer. Great for game at certain times of the year and even when the game is not there activities on this arid, lunar landscape are stunning.
