Itineraries in Botswana with Botswana Odyssey


Botswana's Highlights is a truly fantastic two week trip throughout the landmarks of the countries safari destinations. Starting at Chobe Chilwero on the elevated banks of the Chobe River, the trip moves on to the Delta staying at Little Vumbura and then on to the flagship of all of the Botswanan Safari camps; Mombo Camp. The itinerary then finishes at Victoria Falls at a fantastic lodge just up the Zambezi called the River Club, on the banks of the river itself.


 


Days 1 to 2 - On arrival in Maun, guests will be met and assisted on to their shared light aircraft transfer to Kasane where guests will be taken to Chobe Chilwero on the banks of the Chobe River for their first 2 nights.

Chobe Chilwero

On the edge of the world-renowned Chobe National Park, this comfortably appointed lodge boasts spectacular views over the magnificent Chobe River and the surrounding wilderness. Emphasis is on providing a true African experience and guests are accommodated in 15 air-conditioned luxury thatch and timber bungalows with en-suite sunken handcrafted baths, indoor and outdoor showers, private gardens and terraces overlooking the river. The lodge has a contemporary lounge, dining area, a swimming pool and a superb viewing deck. A team of expert chefs create a fusion of African and Western cuisine, accompanied by vintage wines. Game drives are flexibly and scheduled according to the whims of guests. Drives and water safaris bring guests face to face with large herds of elephant and buffalo on the banks of the Chobe River

Little Vumbura

Little Vumbura is a beautiful 6-roomed tented camp situated to the north of Mombo in a private reserve bordering the Moremi Game Reserve in the northern reaches of the Okavango Delta. Little Vumbura offers both water and land activities. Mokoros (dugout canoes) traverse the flood plains under the guidance of our experienced polers. Open 4x4 Land Rovers allow guests to get close to animals in the savannah areas. Guests usually have the opportunity to see Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Sable and Buffalo, along with all the plains animals, providing an excellent all-round wildlife experience in this remote corner of the Okavango. Walks (on request basis only) around the islands as well as night drives give guests the opportunity to enjoy Africa from a different perspective.

Days 6 to 8. This morning guests will be met and assisted on to their shared light aircraft transfer to Mombo camp in the Moremi Game Reserve for three nights; the heart of the Okavango Delta.

Mombo Camp

Mombo Camp is situated on Mombo Island in the heart of the Okavango Delta, adjoining the northern tip of Chief's Island. The camp offers abundant big wildlife viewing, arguably the best in Botswana. The highlight here is the concentrations of plains animals and all the predators \” including the big cats! Lion sightings are particularly good. Mombo is built under the shade of some large shady trees and overlooks a wonderful floodplain that teems with wildlife. Activities at Mombo include morning and afternoon game drives in open 4x4 Land Rovers. The wildlife viewing in the area is simply fantastic; guests can see lion, leopard, large herds of buffalo, cheetah, wild dog, elephant, white rhino, hyaena, giraffe, wildebeest and zebra.

Days 9 to 13 - Today, guests will be collected for their shared light aircraft transfer to Victoria falls for their final nights at the River Club

The River Club

The River Club is situated on the Zambian side of the Zambezi River, 18 kilometres upstream from Victoria Falls. The camp has a distinct Edwardian flavour and guests here have the opportunity to enjoy the sights and sounds of Victoria Falls and the Zambezi River in a peaceful and tranquil setting away from the crowds. Ten luxurious, thatched chalets overlook the Zambezi River, and have en-suite facilities including a bath, shower, toilet and basin. The rooms are all completely open in the front giving guests the best possible views of the Zambezi. Daily trips to the Victoria Falls are a highlight. Boating to the Zambezi River's islands provides relaxed afternoon activities and fabulous places for a private dinner. Fishing and sundowner trips are also offered. Hippos are regularly sighted (and heard) along the river's edge.

Day 14 Transfer to Livingstone Airport after the guided tour of the Victoria Falls and bid farewell to the adventure.
