Itineraries in Botswana with Botswana Odyssey

This trip is for people who want to get as close to game as is possible; walking amongst the herd of elephants at Stanleys is a simply breath-taking experience. The Moremi Game Reserve and Chiefs Camp rightly holds its place as the predator capital of Africa and the almost daily dual between lion and buffalo at Duba Plains is a fabulous end to a great trip.

Days 1 to 3 On arrival in Maun guests will be met and transferred to their shared light aircraft transfer to Stanleys Camp in the South of the Okavango delta for three nights.

Stanleys Camp

Stanley's is a small luxury camp consisting of 8 classic styled safari tents raised on wooden decking. The elegantly appointed tents exude classic Africa; hand crafted beds dressed with the finest linen, antique furniture individually selected and oriental carpets that give a delightful glimpse at colonial Africa. Antique paddle fans provide respite from summer heat. Game viewing is by vehicle (both day and night), on foot, by Mokoro but the highlight are the walks with the camps very own elephants, Jabu, Thembi & Morula!

Days 4 to 6 This morning guests will be met and transferred to their shared light aircraft transfer to Chiefs Camp in the heart of the Moremi Game reserve for three nights

Chiefs camp

Situated in the North-Western sector of Chief's Island on the Piajio channel in the private Mombo concession of Moremi Wildlife Reserve Chief's Camp is a great example of how private and authentic safari can be. The majority of the concession is designated for accompanied walking safaris and with few roads leading into the camp, guests are assured of an exclusive safari experience. Due to its large concentration of elephant, hippo, buffalo, lion, wild dog and plains game, Mombo is synonymous with prime game viewing. Activities consist of game drives in custom-built landrovers and when water levels are high enough, seasonal 'mokoro' water safaris.

Days 7 to 9 This morning guests will be met and transferred to their shared light aircraft transfer to Duba Plains in the Northernmost reaches of the Okavango Delta.

Duba plains

Duba Plains is perhaps the Okavango Delta's most remote camp. Located in a private 30 000-hectare reserve and in the furthermost region of the Delta. The camp is situated on an island, surrounded by expansive seasonally flooded plains and shaded by tall ebony, fig and garcinia trees. The camp focuses on the incredible wildlife in the area through game drives, which are conducted during the day and at night in open 4 x 4 vehicles. This pristine and untouched area is home to Lion and buffalo whose interaction is often documented by the BBC and National Geographic but eopard, Lechwe, elephant and huge herds of buffalo, as well as a large variety of Okavango Delta bird life. Wattled Cranes and Slaty Egrets are some of the Okavango specials found in the area. The camp is small and intimate, with accommodation in six tented rooms; it is simply stunning.
