Chiefs Camp Having been awarded Conde Nast’s top prize of Best Safari Lodge Chiefs Camp is certainly one of the best camps for sheer quality of game in Botswana; there is no doubt that safari here is simply stunning and the quality of game is outstanding throughout the year.
The twelve luxury tents are located in the North-Western sector of Chief’s Island on the Piajio channel in the private Mombo concession of Moremi Wildlife Reserve. The canvas-tented accommodation (currently being refurbished for opening in 2006) units feature earthy toned designer decor with natural, textured fibres. All units have en-suite facilities and a private viewing deck. The camp has a lounge, bar and dining area, a swimming pool and a large viewing deck that looks out onto a seasonal floodplain. At night the floodplain infront is illuminated and views are stunning (although it has to be said that star gazing is therefore somewhat restricted). Due to its large concentration of elephant, hippo, buffalo, lion, wild dog and plains game, Chiefs is synonymous with prime game viewing. Activities consist of game drives in custom-built Land Cruisers and when water levels are high enough, seasonal water safaris. The majority of the concession is designated for accompanied walking safaris. With few roads leading into the camp, guests are assured of an exclusive safari experience.
Chiefs Camp - The Botswana Odyssey View:
We love this camp solely because of the location; the game here is simply superb. The quality of guiding is also impressive….Jonathen, the head guide is the one to be with although Comic and Stanleys knowledge is superior than the vast majority of other guides in the country. With a recent, much needed refurb, Chiefs is now well worth the money it charges.
