Jacana Set on a private island in the Jao Concession Jacana Camp is a true water camp, completely surrounded by endless flood plains covering one deserted island to the next. The island is just big enough to house this very intimate little camp. Staying at Jacana you very quickly feel at home.
With the emphasis on being in the Delta, in one of the smallest watercamps, you cannot fail to appreciate the size of this small set up and be filled with an immediate feeling of being miles away from anywhere, in your own little hideaway in the Okavango Delta. With such a small camp its key that the managers can intermingle with the guests; Vonan and Chrizelle who run Jacana are very open and friendly, often being found sitting somewhere with guests enjoying a chat over a long drink. Accommodation is in 5 Meru style tents, surrounded by dense bush under the shade of huge trees that cover much of the island. Each room is raised up on wooden decking facing over the floodplains from each side of the island and arre joined to the main area by sand paths through the bush. The dining room, lounge and bar area offer great views out over the flooded plains and the camps small pool looks like it should be covered in high flood.
