Little Vumbura Camp In the same concession as Vumbura Plains, Little Vumbura offers the same quality of safari in a very different set up to its larger sister. Situated on a beautiful island in a private reserve in the North of the Delta Little Vumbura is as its name suggests, much smaller than Vumbura Plains; a truly authentic safari camp.
Hidden by a blanket of papyrus from many sides, the camp looks out over a network of waterways and floodplains onto the main rivers beyond. Guests mainly spend their days exploring the Delta by boat or mokoro depending on the flood levels or by venturing onto larger islands with experienced guides for adventurous walking safaris. When the floods recede the area opens up and day and night drives are common place with exceptional game being sighted regularly. This is a great camp to explore the diversity of what the Delta can offer. The camp itself is under a shady, baboon filled canopy of indigenous trees with 6 safari style tents raised on wooden platforms giving better views over then floodplains from the veranda in front. All rooms are spacious and have en-suite bathrooms with the honeymoon suite having a fantastic stand alone, outside bath to enjoy an afternoon snooze from. The main areas, completely surrounded by tall papyrus are under thatch offering the chance to breakaway from the heat of the day and relax with a cool drink. For the sun worshippers amongst us there is a very private pool complete with a number of sunloungers to top up that tan from.
Little Vumbura Camp – Botswana Odyssey View
As a true water camp, being close to the main channels of the Okavango Delta, water activities are always an option. Full flood is from May to September peaking in July and August but game drives and walks are always an option. The floodplains empty from October onwards leaving huge areas to explore on foot or by 4x4.
