San Camp is situated on a grass covered bay that overlooks the endless white salt sea of the extinct Makgadikgadi Pans superlake adjoining the National Park. This 12 bedded traditional camp with spacious white canvas tents evokes the atmosphere and elegance of a '40s East African safari.

Private adjacent bucket showers with long drop toilets, canvas and wood basins, copper water jugs and paraffin lamps provide a rustic but comfortable touch in keeping with the stark environment of the surrounding area. Your stay at San Camp will provide you with a unique desert experience. Depending on the season, and weather permitting, activities include a game drive into the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park where you will learn about unique desert species such as brown hyena, suricate and springbuck.

San Camp – Botswana Odyssey View

An expedition onto the Salt Pans on four wheel drive quad bikes will give you the opportunity to experience the vast emptiness of this incredible, mysterious area. Other excursions include a visit to the Seven Sisters or Chapman's Baobab, the largest tree in Africa and the beacon and campsite of the early explorers such as Livingstone and Selous. Visitors can also go on a walk with a Bushman tracker who will explain the fascinating links between their people and the wilderness environment and visit a traditional cattle post to learn about the local culture and traditional way of life.
