  • Tongabezi– Our View

We have had so many clients raving about their stays at Tongabezi that in the office here we use the words ‘a Tongabezi moment’ to describe a specific great time in Africa. So obviously this overall view is going to be pretty good! However Tongabezi is all about the rooms. The ‘houses’ (not the cottages) are simply stunning rooms and are actually better than the rooms at the River Club.

We still debate in the office here which lodge is better overall. Unfortunately Tongabezi loses out due to the communal areas, as those at the River Club are so stunning….so River Club takes our accolade of ‘best lodge at Vic falls’. Or does it….oh we don’t know, we like them both!

    Tongabezi – The Facts

  • 10 Luxury river fronted rooms, each with its own individual style and design.
  • Stunning views.
  • Swimming pool.
  • Boat safari and village trips possible along with all Victoria Falls activities possible.

  • Tongabezi – The Detail

Built over 20 years ago Tongabezi was one of the true pioneers in African safari lodge design and was one of the first to entertain guests in open fronted rooms. Now, with the recent introduction of the Nut House, the lodge accommodates 20 guests in five cottages and five luxury houses, including the new edition to the group, the Nut House, coming complete with private plunge pool. All rooms apart from the Garden House have private views across the Zambezi and are en suite. A ratio of four friendly staff to every guest ensures a luxurious and relaxing stay.

Food and service is obviously set high, making the price tag worthwhile. Dinners are often set out under the stars on the banks of the river and breakfasts usually served on the decking area overlapping the river itself.Activities available include visits to Victoria Falls, the gorges downstream, Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park and Livingstone museums and markets, as well as boat trips, canoeing, white water rafting and tiger fishing on the river. A somewhat run down tennis court is available out the back along with swimming in the pool.
