Tubu Tree Camp

Situated on the Western side of Hunda Island in the Jao Reserve Tubu Tree is one of those wonderful small camps that creates an atmosphere of what safari is all about. With only 5 tents, the camp is the ultimate in unpretentious intimacy and privacy.

With fantastic views over the wide flood plains infront, this great little camp is run by a South African couple called Anton and Carrie. Although their first camp, they run it like its their own home giving guests a really personal atmosphere to relax and unwind in.

Each of the large tents are raised high on wooden structures and with enough room between each tent for a herd of elephant to pass through the ensuite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers offering privacy unmatched in the concession. The rooms are beautifully decoraoted with Ostrich eggs and dark mahognay furniture with a decking area infront of the camp for relaxing and watching large herds of red lechwe graze through the water.

The main dining area, lounge and pool, all connected by wooden walkways look out over the floodplains but the focus is on the bar, sculptured out of the canopy of a large marula tree offering shade during the midday sun.

Tubu Tree Camp – Botswana Odyssey View

Tubu is a great option to explore the waterways of the Okavango Delta but also to use as a base for game drives, both during the day and at night or for walking safaris over one of the Deltas most beautiful islands.

When the floods come in from May onwards, the plains infront of camp become gradually submerged and water activities become more of a focus. However when the floods recede, from November onwards, Tubu becomes a dry camp until April again when the waters slowly return.
